Under Pressure : Pressure and the Pelvic Floor

You've probably heard that pressure and the pelvic floor aren't great friends, especially if that pelvic floor has pelvic organ prolapse.

...But is this really the case?

While poorly managed influxes in intra-abdominal pressure (pressure within the abdominal cavity) can become a challenge for the pelvic floor, it's reductive to suggest that all increases in pressure are inherently problematic. Pressure serves a purpose (allowing us to move, resist movement, perform tasks like picking up our children, standing up from the couch, defecating, even!), and we can use pressure to our advantage once we understand it better.

Let's get to know our pressure system a bit better!

This module is straight from POP UP: An Uplifting Guide, our course aimed at arming you with the knowledge, tools, skills, and support to better manage your POP. It provides an introduction to discussing pressure management in the body, including all the ways in which we can manipulate it!
